How to configure exchange email account in Apple Mail

If you’re using Mac OS X 10.10 or later, you may connect to a Microsoft Exchange account using the Apple Mail, Calendar, and Contacts applications. How can I tell which version I have?

If you only want to manage your Exchange email account on the Mac, you may use the Mac Mail software to connect to it using Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) or Post Office Protocol (POP).

Configure Exchange account access using Mac OS X 10.10 or later

To configure an Exchange email account  for Apple Mail on a Mac running Mac OS X 10.10 or later, follow these steps:

  1. Open Mail, and then do one of the following:
    • If you’ve never used Mail to set up an email account, the Welcome to Mail page opens. Go to step 2.
    • If you’ve used Mail to create email accounts, select Mail > Add Account.
  2. Select Exchange > Continue.
  3. Enter the name, email address and password for your Exchange account > Sign In.
  4. Choose the Mac apps you want to use with this account. Available choices are MailContactsCalendarReminders, and Notes.
  5. Click Done.If the Mail application is unable to automatically set up your account, wait a few minutes or hours and then try these procedures.
